For a couple of years, I had a Poison poster on the door of my bedroom. It was just there. Normal kid stuff.
One day, my dad stood in front of my room and lectured me about it.
He told me that the person on the poster, Brett Michaels, was dressed terribly, that it was confusing, and that he thought it was a woman.
He made a point of saying that this was wrong, misleading, and inappropriate.
He also added, very seriously, that he thought this “woman” was very attractive.
At the time, I didn’t really know what to do with that information.
I remember thinking, “What am I meant to do about this?”
I hadn’t done anything. Rock bands dressed how rock bands dressed.
Years later, it finally clicked.
He wasn’t angry about the poster.
He was angry because he had been very attracted to Brett Michaels, believing he was a woman, and then found out he wasn’t.
This video is a creative, visual exploration of that realization, memory, and emotional confusion, told through symbolism, fantasy, and music-video logic.
